AMLWCH PROGRESS IN CUP

Amlwch Town Ladies in a huddle before beating Kinmel Bay

AMLWCH Town Ladies were in winning form again as they triumphed 2-0 at Kinmel Bay in the Maurice Naylor Cup.
Victory for the Anglesey side set them up a home tie with Llanfair United in the next round.
The game did not come to life until minutes after the start of the second period when the home side were awarded a penalty which was superbly saved by Town keeper Sara Williams.
This was the boost that Amlwch needed as Charley Smith opened the scoring just before the hour mark, carrying the ball towards the edge of the area before slotting home her first goal for the club.
In the 63rd minute it was 2-0 after a jinking run by Shannon Thomas resulted in a pass to Cerys Gadd, who found herself with only the keeper to beat before firing home with what proved to be the final goal of the day.

FAW WOMEN'S WELSH CUP SEMI-FINAL

MBi Llandudno will meet Cardiff City in next month's FAW Women's Welsh Cup Final after a convincing 4-0 win over Denbigh Town in Sunday's semi at Rhyl's Corbett Sports Stadium.
In the very first minute midfielder Stacey Tradewell's long-range stunner proved too powerful for Town keeper Netty Jones and Tudno were ahead.
Chelsea Williams had a chance to equalise two minutes later but blasted over the bar.
Llandudno's Sofie Owen slammed a 20-yard stinger which rattled the post, then Kelsey Davies was denied by good defending before Katie Bowe's free kick dipped inches over.
Soon after Bowe was thwarted by the legs of keeper Jones, who also managed to keep out Davies' follow-up.
In the 25th minute Tudno went two-up when Owen's corner from the left was sliced goalwards by a Denbigh defender and Emily Morris on the line could only fire against her own bar and find the net.
Bowe then smashed a left-foot volley against the bar before player of the match Jemila Bukari made a fine run into the box and drilled home number three.
Another Bowe strike on the turn was well saved by Jones, who then foiled Tradewell with her legs before the break.
Bowe fired another free kick inches over before in the 51st minute Rosie Hughes skilfully worked herself a shooting position and drove in Llandudno's fourth.
It was all Tudno as Jones saved from Tradewell and Bowe before Hughes' header from an Owen corner came back off the bar.
Bowe looked certain to score when she was through on goal, but for once that trusty left foot failed as she skewed her shot wide.
Jones tipped over another Bowe free kick before the end.
Llandudno and Cardiff City will clash in the final on Sunday, April 17, at Latham Park, Newtown.

KATIE LOUISE BOWE netted her third hat-trick of the season as MBi Llandudno thrashed visitors Aberystwyth Town 4-0 in the Welsh Premier Women’s League last Sunday.
Midfielder Bowe broke the deadlock when she beat a defender and smashed home a beauty from long range.
She added a second before the break when she turned a defender on the right and hit a lovely shot over the keeper into the top corner.
Tudno were good value for their 2-0 half-time lead, the ladies working well as a team across the park.
Bowe completed her treble and made it 13 goals for the season when she hammered home after Rosie Hughes drilled a free kick across the box.
And Bowe was also involved when her free kick was deflected into the path of Kelsey Davies, who added to her fine run of scoring with another goal.
The game was marred by a bad injury to Aberystwyth forward Gabi Hughes, who suffered a broken arm.
All Llandudno players, officials and supporters wish Gabi a speedy recovery.
